Khamenei: Nuclear Bombs Illegal and Haram

Islam Times reports that Sayyid Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated in speech given in a ceremony launching the Jamaran Destroyer into the country’s navy that the propaganda campaign against Iran has failed due to the West’s continued claims of a false Iranian nuclear weapons program. This speech was delivered to a number of navy personnel.
He said: “Old and meaningless remarks [referring to the latest remarks made by Barrack Obama, the President of the United States] that Iran is building an atomic weapon show that the enemies of the nation have been unable, even in propaganda.”
He added: “We have said many times that our religious beliefs consider the weapons as a symbol of destruction and deems them forbidden and prohibited. We have no belief in atomic bombs and will never pursue them.”
Sayyid Ali Khamenei said this one day after United Nations inspectors claimed that Iran might be after a nuclear weapon. The IAEA Chief, Yukiya Amano, wrote in his first report to its board of governors: “The information available to the agency…raises concerns about the possible existence in Iran of past or current undisclosed activities related to the development of a nuclear payload for a missile.”
The Supreme Leader stated that his neighboring countries know the truth. He said: “Our neighbors know that these are false claims and that America and the Zionist regime are trying to create divisions and divert the attention of the Islamic world from their real enemies, which are the U.S. and Israel.” These remarks were broadcasted on state television.
Iran’s envoy to the IAEA, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, ignored Amano’s concerns, insisting that the report “confirms Iran’s nuclear activities are peaceful and that there is no deviation of material and program for military purposes. In reality he (Amano) has once again confirmed all of the past six years reports that Iran’s nuclear activities have been peaceful.”
The Jamaran Destroyer was built by the Iranian Navy and has now officially joined the Navy fleet. This destroyer can operate in aerial, surface, and subsurface battles.
