Secretary General of al-Wefaq makes an appeal to the international community
After speaking to Mushaima over the phone, Sheikh Salman stated he feared the political prisoner’s health was now deteriorating fast as he wasn’t receiving any medical attention, despite his condition. In a statement to the press Salman said, “it is clear to me that his health is in serious danger.”

Mushaima is a cancer sufferer. Al-Wefaq Secretary General warned that Mushaima had been denied life-saving cancer treatment by Bahrain authorities for the past 7 months. He stressed “without preventive medicine Mushaima’s cancer will return.”

Rights groups already warned that such treatment was inhuman and cruel.

Cancer specialists in London established that Mushaima needed to be assessed urgently in order to determine whether his cancer was indeed back. “We would need to carry out a biopsy.”
“Having become a national symbol of resistance against oppression, Hassan Mushaima must be released on humanitarian ground,” declared Sheikh Salman, addressing international press. He added that such mistreatment by Bahrain regime is yet another proof of its perverse and oppressive nature.
