Illegal ‘protection wall’ around US consulate in Peshawar is demolished
“The wall was built without authorization, which made it illegal and as a result we ordered its destruction,” reported local officials.

The wall which the U.S. Consulate wished to see build was meant to be an additional “security measure” to all American diplomats.

Over two dozen workers of the Peshawar Cantonment Board, equipped with construction and destruction tools, came to demolish the wall, as per instructed by local authorities.

“There was no resistance from the U.S Consulate,” an officer said, adding that earlier in the day a U.S Consulate official came out and questioned workers about their work. “But he was fully aware of the local council decision and made no attempt to disrupt the demolition process.”

It took half an hour for the wall to be demolished.
Before leaving the site, officers said they would lift the remaining slabs and other barricades very shortly.

The U.S embassy in Islamabad is also involved in a huge construction project in and around its embassy involving many “illegal builds.”
