In a Friday interview, Ahmad Reza Dastgheib, the vice-chairman of Iran's Majlis Foreign Policy and National Security Committee, said the plot against Hezbollah has been hatched by Israel, noting, “The Arab countries must know that such forms of behavior are not good for their international image.”

Bahrain’s Parliament Speaker Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani has recently said that the [P]GCC is considering a plan to enlist Hezbollah as a terrorist group.

The news comes after Bahraini lawmakers voted for a bill on March 26 that cited Hezbollah as a terrorist group, accusing it of seeking to destabilize the [P]GCC states and supporting the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

“By taking this measure, they are playing in the Zionist regime’s (Israel) court, because Hezbollah is on the frontline of fighting against the [Israeli] regime,” Dastgheib said.

“Undermining Hezbollah will weaken and jeopardize the interests of the Arab states in the region and, the rulers of these countries should avert this with vigilance,” the Iranian lawmaker pointed out.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Dastgheib underscored the need for a comprehensive and universal definition of terrorism, saying, “The definition of terrorist activities has turned into a tool for many countries to divert the public opinion toward their favored direction.”
