"Ever since the birth of Egypt modern state such crises in Egypt have never occurred," said Amr Moussa.
 
Addressing his audience on Sunday evening at the party's first conference in the city f Alexandria Moussa warned that the party is now facing a dire identity crisis and could should certain issues be unresolved disappear altogether. The fall from grace of former President Husne Mubarak was a blow to the Congress Party.
 
Moussa noed he was saddened by the fact that Egypt had lost its leading role within the region as it had fallen in disarray, plagued by infightings and a sense of direction. He said that he could not bare the idea of leaving Egypt in the mess that is was in. "I cannot leave Egypt and see it declines."
 
Moussa stressed, "Egypt will not fail and we will not allow them [the Muslim Brotherhood] to fail, and we will work as we can in order to succeed ", adding that it will not go only by consensus.
 
In reference to the kidnapping of soldiers in the Sinai, Moussa warned, "We have a serious problem to deal with in the Sinai ... we will not tolerate to have the Sinai stands beyond Egyptian sovereignty or will we allow outsiders to challenge Egyptian sovereignty."
He emphasized that such issues are also threatening the country's tourism industry, and thus endangering economic stability.
