When is the last episode of the series of “Targeting Lebanon’s Security”?
Going back a little bit, the episodes of the series of blasts are increasing day after day. On 10 June last year, a small explosion bombed in the Taanayel area in Bekaa, the moment a car and a minibus for passengers were passing on the international road that leads to the Al-Masnaa Border Crossing. On 28 of the same month, two explosives targeted a set of four-wheel-drive vehicles with polarized windows on the road to Zahle - Baalbek.

Today on Tuesday 16/07/2013 a bomb placed to the side of a road in Chtaura - Al-Masnaa, near the town of Majdal Anjar, exploded and caused the damage of one of the passing cars, and a number of its passengers were injured and were taken to nearby hospitals.

Who are those bombings targeting? Who are those standing behind them?

The “Islam Times” website interviewed some citizens to know their different viewpoints, which were as follows: Some people said, “The bombings that are repeatedly happening day after day are targeting not only Hezbollah, but also the “Shiites” in general, and those who stand behind them are those who want to sabotage the security in Lebanon and to ignite the sectarian strife taking advantage of the high level of stress experienced by Lebanon in recent weeks”.

Others pointed out that “The Israeli Mossad is behind the explosions because of its failure to achieve its goals to remove the Islamic Resistance from the map and to seize the State of Lebanon during the July 2006 war, despite the fact that this will never happen”.

Additionally, other views differed between those who believed that “It is likely the terrorist groups in Syria are behind them, for they were unable to achieve their objectives in Syria, and thus they went into the Lebanese territory “to take it out on it” and to threaten Hezbollah that if it did not stop supporting the Syrian army in Syria it will jeopardize its people and make them face bloody wars, and of course with the help of those who belong to terrorism as Ahmed Al-Asir and the group of terrorism in Tripoli”. However, others said that “The absence of the State and not following-up the current situations caused “insecurity” in the country, and repeating them adds more tension to the Lebanese situation”.

In spite of this series, these attacks still have limited effectiveness, though their converging pace started to raise concern seriously. Yet, what is most serious than this is the fact that those strikes, that are going to continue in the current phase as proved by all the indications and data, would become more lethal and more aggressive in the future and we fear that they might turn into a civil war between the people of the same country.
