Iraq Prime Minister warns against political plots
Abetted by some regional states such as Saudi Arabia, some Iraqi political factions have been orchestrating the recent spate of violence in Iraq to undermine the Iraqi government’s credibility in the lead-up to elections said Saad al-Muttalibi from State of Law Coalition in September.

“The regional powers headed by Saudi Arabia and Turkey - and naturally Qatar is also involved in this matter - are trying to undermine the efforts of the government by supporting the al-Qaeda organization and those insurgents that are close to al-Qaeda. And naturally the old al-Ba’ath party is still active here in Iraq.”

Maliki said that dissidents are looking to disrupt the political process and lay waste Iraq’s democratic progress.

"Iraq has returned to normal, but much more importantly it has addressed issues such as social stigmatization and freedom.”

Plagued by violence the Iraqi government has often accused foreign powers of trying to disrupt and meddle into Iraq’s internal affairs to promote their own agendas in the region.

PM al-Maliki insisted that no matter the hurdles, Iraq is moving forth as a country.
