Pakistani TV channel has been blamed for insulting Ahl Ul Bait
Different religious and political parties in Pakistan expressed their strong reaction on the blasphemy act committed by an anchor and other staff of the channel.

While Geo TV channel broadcasted a qawwali (praising of Ahl Ul Bait poetry) about the marriage of Hazrat Ali (A.S) with Sayeda Fatima Zahra (A.S), the anchor, Dr Shaista Wahidi danced vulgarly and clapped with shoes.

Moreover, the holy poetry which related the wedding of Imam Ali (A.S) and Fatima Zahra (S.A) was telecasted next to blasphemous images running in the back ground containing video clips of film actress Veena Malik’s wedding party - infamous for her obscene and vulgar acting in films and TV shows -

Outraged at such blatant disrespect, many religious scholars issued a decree against Geo TV channel for the blasphemous broadcast.

Scholars of different school of thoughts asked their followers not to watch the accused channel for the length of the boycott.

The decree was announced by Sahibzada Hamid Raza, chief of Sunni Ittehad Council, the alliance of religious groups at a joint press conference with former Senator Faisal Raza Abedi in Islamabad on Thursday.

The group of Religious scholars also announced country wide ‘protest day’ on Sunday to denounce the blasphemy and denounce government’s inaction.
