US Embassy: An agreement with Ankara on the establishment of an operations center to manage the safe area in northern Syria  

From August 5 to 7, 2019, US and Turkish military delegations held meetings at the headquarters of the Turkish Defense Ministry to discuss plans to coordinate efforts to establish a safe area in northern Syria, '' the US Embassy in Ankara said in a statement.

The statement added that the US and Turkish military agreed to the rapid implementation of the initial measures to address the security concerns of Turkey, in addition to the establishment of a joint operations center in Turkey as soon as possible to coordinate and manage the establishment of the safe zone.

The military stressed that every effort should be made to enable Syrian refugees to return to their country in order for the safe area to become a "corridor for peace," the statement said.
