Washington Interferes in Hong Kong Affairs and Signs a New Law
Quoting President Trump, the White House claimed: "These laws were signed out of respect for President Xi (Jinping), China and the people of Hong Kong, we turn to them in the hope that the leaders and representatives of China and Hong Kong will resolve their differences peacefully, which will lead to long-term peace and prosperity for all."

The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday summoned the US ambassador to Beijing, Terry Bransted, to protest against the US Senate and House of Representatives' adoption of a bill to "protect human rights and democracy in Hong Kong."

Hong Kong has been ravaged for more than five months by massive protests against a bill that would allow authorities to extradite wanted men to Beijing, which security forces fired tear gas and rubber bullets.

Official media in China have confirmed that Hong Kong is an inalienable part of China.
