Shooting at US Navy Base in Pensacola, Florida Leaves Suspect and Another Person Dead
The facility had its gates locked early Friday morning over reports of "active shooter."

Authorities shot at the suspect, who was pronounced dead at a local hospital later, according to the Sheriff’s Office. “One additional fatality has been confirmed,” the Navy added shortly afterwards, while there are multiple injuries, including among responders.

The Naval Air Station in Pensacola is a major training site for the Navy, and employs around 16,000 uniformed and 7,400 civilian personnel. Known as the ‘Cradle of Naval Aviation,” it is also home to the ‘Blue Angels’ aerobatic squadron.

The incident comes just two days after a US sailor opened fire at at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in Hawaii, killing two civilian employees and himself.
