Gerasimov stated, "The liberation of areas in the east of the Euphrates region leads to an increase in the circle of missions carried out by the Russian military police units, which are currently patrolling the areas of Ain al-Arab and the island, and also monitors compliance with the ceasefire system along the borders of the Turkish peace spring operation area"

Gerasimov noted that "this matter required the temporary involvement of additional units of the Russian military police."

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart signed a memorandum of understanding to end a very tense situation on the Syrian-Turkish border.

The two sides agreed on several points regarding Syria, perhaps the most prominent of which is the withdrawal of the Kurdish People's Protection Units to a depth of 30 km from the Turkish border towards Syria, and the departure of the towns of Tal Rifaat and Manbij.

In addition to the Russian-Turkish forces conducting joint patrols in northern Syria within ten kilometers of the border, and the deployment of the Syrian border guards and the Russian military police on the border with Turkey, in addition to working to secure the return of the Syrian refugees in Turkey.
