Sisi and Macron Discuss the Situation in Libya by Phone

Radi said that the two presidents reviewed the regional files, especially the situation in Libya, according to the Egyptian newspaper Akhbar Al-Youm.

Al-Sisi stressed the constants of the Egyptian stance towards Libya, namely restoring security and stability there, and supporting counter-terrorism efforts.

The French President made clear to his Egyptian counterpart that he was seeking a political solution in Libya.

Macron added that with the intensification of bilateral efforts with international partners to resolve the crisis situation in the Libyan case.

Since the fall of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011, Libya has suffered a sharp split in state institutions between the east, which is run by Parliament with the support of the National Army led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and the West in which the internationally recognized national reconciliation government is stationed, has failed to gain the confidence of Parliament.
