Amongst the injured were found four Para-military forces personnel as well as many women and children.

The explosion damaged shops and buildings in the densely populated area of the provincial capital of Pakistani Baluchistan.

According to local security officials, the blast occurred when a time bomb went off under a car parked in the area.

“At least 20 to 25 kilograms of explosives were used in the blast,” Bomb Disposal Squad (BSD) officials were quoted as saying.

Police and rescue teams immediately cordoned off the area for security and investigative purposes.

Responsibility has yet to be claimed by one of Balochistan's many armed militias.

Moreover, a report from north-west Pakistan established that at least five people had been killed and forty others injured in an explosion in the Swat city of Khyberpakhtunkhwa province this Thursday.

According to the police, the explosion took place on Takhta Band.
