Bahrain MP denies rumors that a petition has been filed to strip Sheikh Qassim from his nationality

He has in the past suffered from the state's ire when his house was unlawfully raided earlier this year. The move prompted outrage across Bahrain and the region as the Sheikh is a much revered cleric and scholar.
 
According to some local news sites, certain state officials have accused Sheikh Qassim of enticing violence and would be now using such claims as ground to strip him from his nationality.
