Occupy Melbourne calls for worldwide tent protest
The police Ethical Standards Department is investigating an assault complaint after police removed the tent from the woman on Monday.

As part of World Human Rights Day this Saturday, Occupy Melbourne has called for members of the global Occupy movement to wear tents for human rights.

Police had moved in on the protesters' site in Melbourne's Flagstaff Gardens just before 9am on Monday.

They were supporting council enforcement of the by-laws about camping in the city's parks.

The protesters have been told that their tents are considered structures and will be removed, and that wrapping themselves in tents also breaches the by-laws.

When police moved in, they stripped the woman of the tent wrapped around her, leaving her in her underwear.
