The newspaper added that after being out of the public sight for a year since the beginning of the revolution in January 2011, Omar Suleiman strongly broke into the political scene after announcing his candidacy for the presidency, but he is now fighting to survive the race after being excluded.

The newspaper pointed out that the critics celebrated Suleiman’s failure in the race, and quoted the researcher at Human Rights Watch “Hiba Morev” saying: “This is good news for human rights. Suleiman’s offending record refers to his stubbornness and abusive practices, and if he had reached the presidency, the situation will be worse than Mubarak’s time.

She explained that Suleiman was excluded because he lacks the required number of signatures, but rumors say that he will be re-considered in the race by the committee of judges appointed by Mubarak. Suleiman presented himself as a protection against the rise of the Islamic Current, and described the Brotherhood as being harmful to Egypt.

The newspaper noted that Omar Suleiman’s campaign is being supported by wealthy businessmen and former members of Mubarak's party, and there is evidence that suggest that he is also supported by some elements of the intelligence service.
