Demonstration ban in Bahrain sends shock waves through rights community

The move has been seen and perceived by activists in Bahrain as yet another blow to their fight for better democratic institutions.
Activists actually sent a letter to the UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights, informing him of Bahrain Ministry of Interior's decision in regards to demonstrations, stressing such an infringement on one's inherent right to peacefully demonstrate was breaking all human rights conventions. They further urged the UN to act swiftly and send a report to to the UN Human Rights Council on the deteriorating situation in Bahrain.
