US will increase military budget eight percent
The documents obtained by the Associated Press on Tuesday said President Barack Obama would ask for $534 billion for the core budget of the Pentagon that is a $38 billion hike.

The budget includes $5.3 billion to “equip and train” Iraqi soldiers and the so-called “moderate” Syrian militants to fight ISIL.

The Pentagon announced that it would deploy about 1,000 troops to train the so-called moderate militants in Syria to combat ISIL terrorists.

The training is expected to begin in early spring and will take place in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar.

ISIL, which controls parts of Syria's territory, sent its fighters into Iraq in June, quickly seizing large parts of Iraq.

The US and some of its allies have been carrying out airstrikes against ISIL inside Syria and Iraq.

The Pentagon documents said that most of the military budget increase would go to procurement of new war-fighting equipment and operations and maintenance accounts.

Procurement accounts would get a 15 percent increase to $108 billion.

The documents also mentioned $51 billion would go for overseas missions, including $43 billion for ongoing operations in Afghanistan and $3.8 billion to train Afghan security forces.

The current base budget of the US military is $496 billion, with another $64 billion for overseas military missions.

Some 57 next-generation F-35 fighters, nine new ships and submarines, and construction of new long-range Air Force tankers are also included in the new budget.
