Islam Times reports that the Lahore courts granted the Pakistani foreign ministry 15 days to clarify whether Raymond Davis had diplomatic immunity or not. The Pakistani foreign minister sent a letter to the judicial branch of the country stating that Raymond Davis worked in the United States Embassy and therefore should be granted diplomatic immunity.
This announcement was made after Senator John Kerry pressured Pakistan’s foreign ministry. Shah Mahmoud Qurayshi, the former Pakistani foreign minister announced that Raymond Davis should not be granted diplomatic immunity.
Three weeks ago, Raymond Davis fired into a crowded area of Lahore killing two innocent civilians and another while trying to escape the scene. This matter has harmed the relations between Pakistan and America.
