Jerusalem Beseeching to Help the “Ruins”
By D. Mostafa Al-Ladawi

As well, this does not mean that it is their first crime committed against the Palestinians and their holy sites. However, inaugurating the Hurva “Ruins” Synagogue means they are publicizing that they are taking part in the final battle against the Arabs and Muslims regarding Al-Aqsa Mosque and its precincts, and regarding the city of Jerusalem and its neighborhood. This Synagogue, which was suddenly brought out, and which was not recently established, did not only come because of the right-wing policies of Netanyahu's Government. This Synagogue was a result of the previous Israeli governments, the right wing and centre governments and their joint work. All of them facilitated the construction of the Synagogue, and the fulfillment of a Jewish rabbi’s prophecy since more than one hundred and fifty years. The said rabbi had dreamt that the day following the Hurva Synagogue’s inauguration would be the first day of the stage of restoring the Third Temple. In fact, the Israelis began to plant the Synagogue in front of the Dome of the Rock, taking its shape and structure, since more than five years, paving the way for the guardians of the Temple to proceed in preparing for the final phase to build the alleged Temple. This step aims at destroying Al-Aqsa Mosque, since there is no room for a Temple and a mosque at the same place, either the mosque or the Temple. Jewish rabbis claim that the bases of their temple are under the Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, and that there is no other way to restore the temple, but only by demolishing Al-Aqsa Mosque, and discovering the historical bases of the Temple.
Furthermore, the Israeli occupation approved the construction of the Synagogue in 2001, with a budget of 12 million$, shared between the government and worldwide Jewish donors. It began building it in 2006, immediately after the completion of the mapping based on old geometric photographs of the Synagogue before being demolished in 1948, and it was called the “Hurva” Temple. Israel in another governmental declaration, had assigned the management tasks of the Hurva Synagogue, to the so-called “Wailing Heritage Fund”, which is a company belonging to the Israeli government, and it used to follow the affairs of Al-Buraq Wall directly from the Prime Minister's Office. According to Israeli claims, the Hurva Synagogue was built in the early eighteenth century, and then it was rebuilt in the middle of the next century after it has been damaged, and it was later destroyed in 1948 during the Israeli attempt to occupy East Jerusalem. Therefore, they called it the Hurva Synagogue, and some Jewish rabbis called it “Beit Yaakov”. According to the same said allegations, an Israeli rabbi, who lived in the year 1750, predicted that the day of the re-opening of the “Ruins” Synagogue, is the day of initiating the construction of the alleged Third Temple, which represents the Jewish Day of salvation. However, the truth is that the Synagogue was established above an Osmani building, which was originally a mosque built during the period of the Ottoman Empire, and is located within the Islamic buildings near the historical Al-Omari mosque, which has been closed years ago in front of the worshipers. The Synagogue was built on waqf ground, at the expense of Palestinian houses belonging to Al-Sharaf Quarter, the area that the occupation failed to seize in 1948. Yet, quite a lot of the said quarter’s houses were demolished in 1967, and a large settlement quarter was establishment called the “Jews Quarter” at the expense of Jerusalem’s Al-Sharaf Quarter.
In theory, Israeli officials are surprised of the Palestinian Masses’ dispute, the residents of Jerusalem in particular and Palestine in general, and believe that Palestinians are exaggerating and mischaracterizing the re-opening and that they have fueled the international community against them. They also believe that the Palestinians are unjustly inspiring the Arab and Islamic worlds against Israel, and that the Palestinians’ declarations caused friction, incited hatred, imperiled prospects for peace in the region. According to them, the Palestinians’ declarations aim at drawing attention away from Iran's nuclear program, which threatens the security of the Arab region before threatening that of Israel. Whereas, the Israelis are seeking to prove that the inauguration of the Synagogue is an ordinary incident, and that it is an exclusive Jews’ right, and no one is entitled to interfere in their internal affairs. However, the Israelis know that they are planning to remove the Temple Mount or the Noble Sanctuary (al-Haram al-Qudsi al-Sharif), and that they are keen to make Al-Aqsa Mosque a rematch of the Holy Sanctuary of Abraham or the Ibrahimi Mosque (Al-Haram Al-Ibrahimi). In reality, the Jews were present at Al-Haram Al-Ibrahimi more than the Muslims were, and used to celebrate their religious rituals, ceremonies and social development inside it. They also used to specify the prayer’s hours for Muslims, the days that the Palestinians were forbidden to enter the mosque, and other days that the Muslims were forbidden to recite Adhan (the call to pray). The Israeli believed that the policy of graduated steps that they have followed at Al-Haram Al-Ibrahimi, have achieved its goals, and enabled them to enter the mosque, to divide its yards and precincts, to control some of its graves and shrines, and to make it Jewish as a whole including its structures and rituals for several days. As a result, only Jews with their uniforms, children being circumcised, couples getting married, Men draftees in the moment of their oath, Women draftees in the early hours to receive religious instructions and guidance, and soldiers with their guns and military boots attended it. While, all manifestations of Islamic pray, Adhan, a visit and reciting the Holy Quran were missing there.

Indeed, what we should understand, we the Arabs and Muslims, is that demolishing Al-Aqsa Mosque is possible, and that destroying the Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem is not impossible. Thus, we should not bet on the Israelis’ intellectuality, neither on the keenness of the United States of America. We should also not trust the International worries fearing the consequences of such a step if made by Israel. In fact, the Israelis burned Al-Aqsa Mosque, tried to destroy and to blow it up more than once, and shot its holy Dome several times. Their terrorist organizations are still planning to fully destroy and to blow it up, and the Israeli government continues to dig under its foundations. Unfortunately, one day Al-Aqsa Mosque might collapse. Therefore, we will be mistaken if we overlook such an Israeli possibility. Any Western denouncement, American refusal, International outrage, and/or Mitchell or other refusing to visit or even to meet Israelis, will not prevent them from carrying out this crime. Moreover, neither the power of the Arabs nor the influence of the Muslims will make them stop their plans; especially that both the power and influence are weak, both the Arabs and Muslims’ reality is painful, and their ability to act is limited, and their revenge capabilities are sightless. Israel is sure of their disability, assured of their vulnerability, unconcerned about their reactions, uncaring about their denouncement, uninterested about their loud voices, and unresponsive to their useless clamor. Itamar Ben Jofeir, one of the leaders of the settlers, confirmed on behalf of the Israelis that the ceremony of inaugurating the Synagogue represent a message to the White House, to Obama and to the American administration as a whole. This message affirms that we are united in Jerusalem, that Jerusalem is ours, and will remain ours, and that we are clearly saying to the American administration that the entire lands of Israel belong to us, and Jerusalem is ours forever.
For his part, the spiritual leader of the Shas political party, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, said in his religious sermon, when interpreting the policy that should be consistently followed by the Israeli government: “no other people shall live in Jerusalem except the people of Israel. The wall finalizes the holiness of the place, and no one live in that place other than the Jews, and the Christ will come and burn the gentiles, all together and right away, and curse their derivations”.

However, Israelis are mistaken when they believe that additional repressive practices and aggravating procedures are capable of silencing the Palestinians, frightening them, stopping their resistance or forcing them to accept the reality imposed by force. Israel in turn is also mistaken when it believes that its police officers, who are gathering at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque would prevent the Muslims from praying in their mosque, or that the repression procedures, and the practices of humiliation and insult would frighten them. All the Muslims everywhere will continue to come to Al-Aqsa Mosque, seeking reward, preserving the identity, and affirming the Arab and Islamic affiliation. Jerusalem and its people will continue to revolt against the occupiers and rebel against their executioners, seeking freedom and independence. Both Jerusalem and Palestine will continue to sacrifice by the blood of their sons and martyrs until they achieve their goals and will go on with the revolution, ever since Al-Buraq revolution to every Jerusalem’s uprising that came after it.
Finally yet importantly, the world must realize that Israel is dragging the Palestinians and the whole region towards a religious war, and that it is provoking the Muslims and Christians together. These attacks do not affect the Palestinians alone, and they are not only related to the residents of Jerusalem, but are also related to all the Muslims, those who feel that it is their duty to defend Jerusalem and to support the Holy Aqsa mosque- the mosque that is the first Qibla and the third holiest site. Consequently, supporting it is a warship, defending it is a duty, fighting for the sake of it is an obligation. God considers dying in favor of it martyrdom. Hence, No one will protect Al-Aqsa but only its people and no one will defend Jerusalem but only its faithful people.
